Framing Pemberitaan LKBN Antara Mengenai Program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG)

Abstract
This study aims to examine the news framing of the State News Agency (LKBN) Antara on the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. MBG is a flagship program of the Indonesian government, led by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as promised during the 2024 presidential election campaign. LKBN Antara's framing is worth studying, given its position as a government-managed public media outlet. The MBG program itself has received a lot of attention, not only domestically but also in foreign media, due to the many cases of poisoning and other controversies related to its implementation. To determine LKBN Antara's framing of the MBG program, the researcher used Robert N. Entman's analysis model, which covers four main elements, namely defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and suggesting remedies. The unit of analysis consisted of news articles published by LBKN Antara using the keyword “MBG,” which yielded 548 articles. Not all articles were analyzed; instead, a random sample of 10 percent (55 articles) was selected. The results of the
study show that LKBN Antara, in framing the MBG program, placed the government as the main actor. That could be seen from the choice of headlines, news content, and sources. LKBN Antara's status as a state-owned enterprise, coupled with the press's historical record of government control, has shaped a tendency toward cautious news reporting more in line with the government's official narrative.
