Peer Review Policy
Semar applies a peer review process to ensure the scientific quality, relevance, and contribution of published articles to community service activities.
1. Type of Peer Review
The journal implements a single-blind peer review process, where reviewer identities are concealed from authors, while reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities. This model is applied to support objective and thorough evaluation.
2. Review Process Stages
All submitted manuscripts undergo the following stages:
-
Initial screening by the editor to assess scope relevance and submission completeness.
-
Plagiarism screening using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity levels will be rejected or returned for revision.
-
Reviewer assignment, involving at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
-
Peer review process, where reviewers assess the manuscript’s quality, methodology, originality, and contribution to community service.
-
Editorial decision, based on reviewers’ recommendations (accept, revise, or reject).
-
Author revision (if required) and final decision by the editor.
In cases of conflicting reviewer recommendations, an additional reviewer may be assigned.
3. Review Timeline
-
Reviewer evaluation period: 3–4 weeks
-
The total review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the revision process and manuscript completeness.
4. Confidentiality and Objectivity
All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers and editors must maintain confidentiality and declare any potential conflicts of interest.
5. Editorial Decision
Final decisions are made by the editor based on:
-
Reviewer reports
-
Journal policies
-
Academic merit and publication ethics considerations
